Overnight in Vienna.

Leave Vienna through the vast Prater Park with a giant ferries wheel, the symbol of the city. Then cycle down the Danube National Park and touch the natural riverbed on your way to Carnuntum, where an archaeological reconstruction brings back to life the capital of the Roman province of Pannonia. Arrive to Hainburg, the easternmost Austrian town with well-preserved medieval fortification. Overnight in Hainburg.

Day 3 – Hainburg – Bratislava – Mosonmagyarovar (58 km / 36 miles)

Leave Austria for Slovakia to see its capital Bratislava, with the historical old town centre at the Danube bank. Then follow the Danube sidearms into Hungary and ride down the rural countryside to Mosonmagyarovar, a spa town located at the meanders of Lajta River. Overnight in Mosonmagyarovar.

Day 4 – Mosonmagyarovar – Gyor (46 km / 29 miles)

The route from Mosonmagyarovar winds its way through farming pastures and rural villages. You can relax in the open-air thermal pool in Lipot before you skim the Mosoni-Duna river meanders on your way to Gyor. This ancient town, dated back to Roman era, has got a lively town center in the intact Baroque layout. Overnight in Gyor.

 Day 6 – Komarno – Esztergom (56 km / 35 miles)

This riverside day will take you along the Danube following mostly paved bike paths to Esztergom, since 1000 the archbishop seat, and the former Hungarian capital. No wonder, that the magnificent Esztergom basilica is the largest cathedral in Hungary. Overnight in Esztergom.
