Sample Itinerary

For a 7 Day Tour, eliminate Day 2 and 5.

Day 1 ARRIVAL IN LISBON – We can pick you up at the airport or at a hotel in the city.

After your welcoming, we drive for two hours until Estremoz. An old town where you might feel a Queen or King spending the night at the Castle. This is a historical building converted into a hotel from where you can admire a superb view over Estremoz and the vast Alentejo plain.

Day 2 – ESTREMOZ Loop BIKE | Short 44 km, climb 400 m | Long 71 km, climb 700 m

On the first ride, you will start cycling by pastoral fields, where the only sounds are the jangling bells of flocking sheep chirping. The landscape is rural and you will be passing some villages with the typical Alentejo whitewashed homes outlined in blue and ochre trim. The wine culture will enter your path on this very first ride, as you will visit a winery and start to taste red and white wine! But not much because you still have some kilometers to do, until your resting place.

Day 3 – ESTREMOZ to VILA VIÇOSA BIKE | Short 23 km, climb 200 m | Long 67 km, climb 500 m

After a delicious breakfast you will cycle through villages and historical landscapes. Stage of battles, conquers, old communities and great people. Towards Vila Viçosa, the capital of marble in Portugal you can visit the Ducal Palace, built in the 16th and 17th centuries on the remains of Roman and Moorish buildings. You will have plenty of free time today, we suggest a walk around and enjoy the charm of the streets at the center.

Day 4 – VILA VIÇOSA LOOP BIKE | Short 48 km, climg 600 m | Long 66 km, climb 900 m

A gorgeous day is awaiting you! You will ride towards Spain through a landscape of cork trees, olive groves and flocks of sheep! Admire the beautiful Guadiana River, that separates Portugal from Spain and make a stop to visit Juromenha, a picturesque village overlooking Spain. On this day you must face some up hills upon return to Vila Viçosa, but your efforts will be reward with a delicious meal in the night.

Day 5 – VILA VIÇOSA to MONSARAZ BIKE | 56 km, climb 600 m

It is time to leave Vila Viçosa and ride south passing the village of Alandroal. On the way you will delight in seeing the oleander flowers, shrubs and trees, whose wood was used by local artisans. Arriving in Monsaraz, notice that ancient cultures and medieval architecture is close by. This village was occupied since the prehistoric era and megalithic monuments are a physical evidence of that. We suggest that you visit Menhir of Outeiro right before checking in to your hotel.

Day 6 – MONSARAZ to REDONDO BIKE | Short 48 km, climb 500 m | Long 64 km, climb 700 m

After a peaceful night rest, cycle the golden landscape to Redondo. Arriving to the hotel-museum you will find an impressive collection of tiles, remarkable ceramic work during centuries of Alentejo cultural style. This building was a convent and you might feel fascinated knowing that Kings were sleeping there since 1500. To finish the day challenge your taste and learn a bit more about Portuguese wine at Wine museum in center. Don’t miss it! Dinner is included.

Day 7 – REDONDO to ÉVORA BIKE | 51 km, climb 400 m

A beautiful day riding rolling hills of gold and green, through cork trees, pris- tine vineyards and pastoral countryside dotted by abandoned castles. And after all this days rolling hills through past and present, old world heritage, modern local cultures, landscapes and wineries. Today you will arrive at the most beautiful historical city of the country and gather all this experiences in just one place. Can you imagine? Make your way there and keep exploring!

Day 8 – ÉVORA LOOP BIKE | Short 47 km, climb 400 m | Long 70 km, climb 600 m

Évora is classified in UNESCO’s International Heritage and has 2000 years of history. After a late breakfast, it is time to explore the surroundings. Soon you will arrive in Arraiolos noted for its colorful, hand-stitched woolen tapestries. There must be one fitting in you living room back home! This is the last day riding so you have the opportunity to celebrate with Portuguese wine. Saúde!

Day 9 – Departure

Our splendid program comes to an end, we hope you take home wonderful memories. Our Guide will pick you up according to your schedule time. The drive time to the Lisbon Airport takes around 2 hours. Do not schedule flights out of Lisbon before mid-afternoon.
